At 8:12pm, the Valhalla FAST was requested to the scene of a structure fire in Sleepy Hollow. Due to the conditions of the fire a second alarm was transmitted bringing in additional resources including an additional FAST. When crews arrived there was heavy fire on the top floors of the building and through the roof. Members of the FAST set up and completed their 360 check of the building. Suppression efforts were only exterior with no members entering the building. The FAST continued to do periodic checks of the building to make sure no firefighters were in the collapse zone and also checking the residences next door to make sure of no fire spread. Additional alarm were transmitted bringing in additional departments. A collapse of the backside of the building occurred, members of the FAST conducted a check and made sure all firefighters were accounted for. Firefighters from around the county were able to darken down the fire around 11:30pm. Members stood by until being released around 12:30 am.
