This afternoon, Valhalla FAST was dispatched to a working structure fire on Walter Avenue in Thornwood. Crews arrived to heavy smoke pushing from the house. Once the FAST was set up, crews “softened” the building by putting ground ladders around the building. Members were able to quickly knock down the bulk of the fire. Members then conducted overhaul to make sure there was no extension. Units were released shortly after the fire was deemed under control.
