Valhalla and Hawthorne FD’s along with Thornwood’s ladder were dispatched to a report of a structure fire in Hawthorne. First arriving units located smoke coming from one of the windows. The homeowner stated that everyone was out of the house and that she closed the door to the room. Crews quickly made entry into the fire room and knocked down the main body of fire. Members then checked for hotspots and completed overhaul. Valhalla units were released shortly after. The quick actions of the homeowner stopped the fire from spreading. This is a great lesson to always close the door as your evacuating a room.
