Members of the department answered numerous calls after heavy rain brought flash flooding. The department answered 15 calls in a span of 4 hours. The department along with North White Plains FD, Valhalla EMS, and the Mt Pleasant medic responded to the Taconic State Parkway for people trapped in vehicles in the flooded waters. Crews were able to remove the motorists from the flooded highway. Members then shutdown the parkway and began the task of getting all vehicles off the roadway. At the same time other units were responding to pump outs throughout the district. Units also responded to a house struck by lightning on Shelley Avenue. To cap off the night, units were dispatched to a motor vehicle fire on Grasslands Road near Woods Rd. The fire was quickly knocked down. Units finally went back into service, only to get a call for wires arching around 2am.
