The department was dispatched to a report of wires down with a brush fire near the intersection of Grasslands Road and Legion Drive. While car 2481 was responding, Mt. Pleasant Police Department New York updated it as a motor vehicle accident which took down poles and electrical wires. Another update from MPPD stated there was a party trapped in the vehicle. 2481 arrived on scene to find a vehicle that drove off the roadway and struck a pole. The occupant of the vehicle was able to self extricate. Chief Kohany requested Con Edison to the scene. While waiting for Con Ed, crews from Engine 84 and Rescue 9 shut down the roadway. Units stood by for a couple of hours until Con Ed arrived. The scene was turned over to Con Ed, who will be continuing to work on the issue throughout today. Currently Grasslands Road is shut North of Legion Drive, be sure to use alternate routes.
