Tropical Storm Isaias Knocks Out Trees and Power
Email Print RSS Facebook Twitter RSS

By Valhalla Fire Department
August 9, 2020

This past week the department responded to numerous calls in the district. A majority of them were wires and trees down, blocking roadways. Members tried to make streets passable by removing trees. Some streets had to be closed due to electrical wires entangled in the trees. Power has been restored to a majority of the town. We urge everyone, if they see a downed wire, stay away and call 911. These wires may be energized. Also, if you are using a generator, make sure the unit is outside and away from the house. Generators emit carbon monoxide (CO), and are dangerous if they are kept inside. If you hear your CO detector going off be sure to call 911
