Tonight's drill was to introduce some of our new members to vehicle extrication. The newer members went over different tools that are used during an extrication. They then used the tools to make entry into the vehicle. During an extrication, occupants of the vehicle are unable to get out of the vehicle. This is where the "Jaws of Life" tool is used to pry open vehicle doors. Members also trained on how to remove the roof of a vehicle in case this is easier for EMS and fire crews to extricate the patient.
This month's monthly drill was on vehicle extrication. In the past couple of months the department has added more new members. The goal of this drill was to get the newer members familar with the extrication tools. Members trained on the "Jaws of Life" and other extrication tools. These tools allow us to quickly gain access and free a patient from a vehicle
